Bluebear lives in a little cottage near the sea. He likes the simple joys of life and so he plants a garden of tomatoes, harvests the tomatoes, bakes bread, and makes a tomato sandwich for a picnic. In between all of these things, he tends the garden, sits and enjoys the view, reads, and even dances.
The idea of Bluebear came out of a discontent for the frenetic style of teaching that pervades children’s television. The author wanted to show, in a gentle manner, that life can be rich in simplicity and quiet.
